Oh my friends, has it only been one week since the inauguration? It’s been a long week since an overgrown bully began his efforts to launch a war on migrants, recommit to the death penalty, fire federal DEI staff, and erase me and my queer, gender-expansive kid — my amazing kid who turned 18 yesterday! A week since this self-declared “Christian” called this loving human "nasty” and “not smart” for imploring him to have compassion and mercy for queer people and immigrants. I appreciate all who have reached out over the past week to see how we’re doing — deep gratitude. And how are you all doing, my loves?

When I ask others how they’re holding up, I keep hearing words like fear, dread, disbelief, and exhaustion. Gosh, I feel it all, too. I’m sitting with all of these feelings as I begin to write to you today. I wondered how I could possibly share anything of use right…
