Earlier this week, I wrote this post about how our most vulnerable part can actually be the key to uncovering and understanding the greatest gift we are here to offer in this lifetime. This alchemy (of turning a wound into medicine for the world) is possible only if we become conscious of and welcoming to our wounded place. We turn toward it, understand it, how it shows up in our lives, what triggers it, and how it has formed our automatic operating system. Only then can we extract its very potent medicine.
I promise you this: You have within you a very potent, absolutely unique gift that only YOU are here on this planet, at this time, to offer. Years ago, the quote below inspired me to locate mine by turning toward all of my own parts (even those that felt shameful or painful) and excavating their gems:
“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, not how it compares with other expression. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.”
